Mon Nov 3 07:18:47 2008 The context: you run emerge with --ask parameter and, since it can take some time to calculate dependencies, you do some other thing. After a while, when you've forgotten it, you discover that emerge have ended calculating dependencies time ago and it's waiting for your confirmation when it could be already done. Have this ever happened to you? Me too. This is why I added sound notifications to some Portage events. The patch is configured in /etc/make.conf file with the following variables: PLAY_CMD which is the command that will play the sound, like play, aplay, artsplay, esdplay or paplay, and SOUND_<event> which is the sound file that will be played, events may be ASK, SUCCESS or FAILURE. Files may be in any format supported by PLAY_CMD, so you can use WAV, MP3, OggVorbis, AAC, WMA, ... using the suitable command. Example:
# Sounds will be played with PulseAudio using command paplay
Sun Sep 14 11:08:47 2008 The fact is that, with ebuilds for new packages that I submitted to Bugzilla, the ones I modified with patches of my interest, those removed from Portage, some I made for my scripts and others, I colleted a few ebuilds now I compile and release in an overlay for Portage. Some of the included packages are: In order to see the full list of packages and installation instructions visit the project web page.
Fri Sep 12 07:48:14 2008 Did you know that teTeX development was abandoned more than two years ago? And it's recommended to migrate to TeX Live. When I was doing so by reading the Gentoo Linux guide I found that it says: if you have modified configuration files under /etc/texmf.... How will I know that? I modified many configuration files and I can't remember which ones I've modified. I though about using equery to check that, but I only know the command to check all the files in a package, not a single file, so I though that it would be easier to do my own script than to read the whole equery man page. So here it is, the script that checks if certain files in a package were modified:

Dos novedades en la sección de documentos: por un parte, una recopilación de mis aplicaciones más queridas y más odiadas y por otra parte un documento sobre la interfaz SATA. Sendos trabajos para las asignaturas de Configuración de Sistemas Informáticos y Arquitecturas Avanzadas, respectivamente.
Tue Jul 8 15:42:12 2008 I must blame Fonso again, because he asks me about something like FlashGot but for Opera in Linux, i.e., a way to be able to select a block of RapidShare URLs to download them with a premium account with a download manager. So when I didn't find anything, I started with it.. I finally got a bash script that receives a list of links as parameters and adds them to Aria with a RapidShare premium account. Using aria was not a choice, since it was the only one, appart from wget, that supports RapidShare premium accounts (i.e., HTTP authentication) without problems. The script will be downloaded in any directory, for example /usr/local/bin and to add it to Opera you should edit menu configuration file located at ~/.opera/menus. By default it will be something like standard_menu.ini. If you don't know what's your file, you can see it in Menu Configuration option. If you don't have a menu configuration file, you can create it in Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Toolbars -> Menu setup -> Duplicate. You have to add the following line in the [Hotclick Popup Menu] section:
Assuming that the link is located at /usr/local/bin/downloadthis.sh, otherwise, it will be replaced by its location.
Mon May 26 15:49:31 2008 OK, I can't boast about my creativity since it tends to zero, but this why I'm not publicist.
